A Place for Siegmar is a personal insight in the relationship of an immigrant father and son recently arrived in Hackney. In 1936, Siegmar Haase fled for his life from the Nazis in Germany to seek refuge in Argentina. In 2002, due to the economic and social crisis in Argentina, along with his filmmaker son Diego, Siegmar was forced to make the return journey to Europe and seek refuge with his wife in London’s East End.
Intimately filmed over 6 months in East London by Diego Haase, this is a moving documentary about forced economic migration and its effects on a father and son.
